Coccidiosis in poultry production
Coccidiosis is one of the most common and widespread parasitic diseases that affect poultry farms
The main reason for infection is not following the instructions and steps of good disinfection, as the vesicles (Oocyst) have the ability to infect for a long time in the right climate for transmission of infection
The most important causes of coccidiosis are:
* Poor ventilation
* High humidity
* High density of birds
Coccidiosis is one of the most common and widespread parasitic diseases that affect poultry farms
* High humidity
* The presence of different ages on the site
* Moving workers between sites without following self-disinfection steps
Thus, sick birds carrying the parasite and dealing with them are considered one of the causes of the spread of the disease and the transmission of infection
Symptoms of coccidiosis are serious and obvious, namely:
* Lethargy, shrinkage and gathering of chicks
* Fading in custom and rattles
* Severe diarrhea ranging from Brown to red
* Reduction in feed consumption
* Drooping wings
* Anemia
* Reduced egg production in case of infection of egg farms at the production stage
* Mortality
The death rate ranges from 5-50%, depending on the extent of the infection and the severity of the injury.
It was also found that coccidiosis affects Persa, as it happens in gumburu disease, but the difference is that after the elimination of the gumburu virus, the Persa remains affected, but in the case of coccidiosis, once treated with diclazuril, it returns to normal.
And when dissecting birds, the symptoms appear according to the type of aymeria
There are five types that affect the twelve
Three types affect the small intestine and one type affects the cecum, namely Eimeria tenella , which is the most widespread in broiler chickens, as it appears at an earlier age than other types at the age of 3-7 weeks and appears in the form of clotted blood in the cecum
Coccidiosis infestation damage :
- First, coccidiosis causes losses and costs for medicines and treatments
Stop drug and immunization programs
- Losses in egg production as a result of its decrease if the infection occurs at the production stage as mentioned earlier
- Weight loss and growth retardation due to lack of feed consumption, intestinal injury and the inability of birds to feed normally
- Also, all amber tools, including the Amber worker, become a source of transmission of infection to other places, so it is advisable not to move workers and tools from one farm to another in case the farm is infected with coccidiosis
- The treatment itself may be one of the causes of damage to the bird, the first of which is the stress of birds with medicines
- Sulfa compounds used for treatment, if used in excessive doses, can poison birds
How to carry out preventive measures from coccidiosis :
The most important methods of prevention are
* Maintain the temperature and ventilate the ward to prevent high humidity
* The use of anti-coccidiosis in feed or drinking water to form a good immunity in birds against coccidiosis
* Using coccidiosis-killing disinfectants after each session, such as phenic and caustic soda, to disinfect the wards and ensure that the cleansing step is completed optimally
* Do not transfer tools between wards or farms, preferably allocate a worker for each ward
* Periodically maintain waterings and DART lines and remove any wetness if it occurs
* Maintaining the appropriate level of nobility, as its decrease is a reason to wet the mattress and raise the humidity of Amber
* Also adjust the pressure level inside the lines to suit the age of the bird and its water consumption
* Filling the foot wash basins with Fenik disinfectant and making sure to change it every day and obliging workers to dip their feet before entering the ward and follow the self-disinfection guidelines for workers in full
Finally, here are some of the treatments used in this case :
Diclazuril
Ambrol + K3
Toltrazuril
NOR_COX
And also we can treat with herbs
Using yucca flowers in the ratio of Kilo / ton feed
It has been proven that using it from the age of one day and examining birds at the age of 6 days found an increase in the length of intestinal abscesses, which improves digestion and absorption and increases the growth rate
